Common HV700 Touch Screen Defects

Ghost Touch

In addition to touch issues, we see display or image issues. We refer to ghost touch as ghosting or phantom touch on the HV700 units.

It is where random controls are being pressed without any user control. Sometimes your ballast or cruise controls is changing on it's own.

Why is it happening?

This is the most common failure we see on the HV700 units and is due to a failure of the internal circuit that controls the touch screen.

Frozen or unresponsive touch

This is also very common on the HV700 units. Sometimes you will try to press controls on the touch screen and nothing will happen, or it will take multiple presses and increased pressure to respond.

This is due to the internal bond hardening and losing touch response over time.

Our new screen features

Is mtc design better than the original?

Our design is our proprietary anti-delamination design, and should not suffer from the common issues. In addition, we use a durable LED backlight that is brighter than the original. Finally, we add a nice anti-fingerprint coating that resists water spots and fingerprints.

How to remove from the boat?

Each boat is different, you can check the installation page to see if we have any details on your boat.

Is there any programming or dealer visits needed after the HV700 repair?

No- we are replacing only the lcd and touch panel. No programming or dealer visits needed. Plug it in, and all settings will be the same as when you removed it.

How do I know this will fix my issue?

Check the list of common issues on this page, if you are experiencing one or more of them, our new screen is guaranteed to resolve it.

What's the turn around time?

Check the banner at the top of this page to see our real-time current repair times.

Do you take orders from customers outside of the USA?

Yes! The only catch, is that you have to mail your unit in to us, we cannot provide a pre-paid mailing label as is the case with USA customers. Check the email for mailing instructions after placing the repair order.

What is included in the mail in service? What am I paying for?

When your defective HV700 unit is received, we will carefully open the unit and extract the old LCD touch panel assembly.

Then, the original sealant is removed to ensure a proper surface to attach the new components. We will install our new upgraded touch screen digitizer with bonded LCD screen, and install it to your existing housing.

We then reseal the unit to be watertight and test before sending back to you. Standard ground shipping both ways is included for USA customers.

Will you be offering a DIY repair kit on the HV700 model?

Not at this time. The HV700 requires special equipment to separate the unit, and there is a very high chance of damaging the expensive or no longer available display unit. This complex processing requires professional installation on site only.

Will the new screen look different or have different features?

No- it will look and feel identical to when your boat was brand new. We use a slightly better anti-glare coating to improve viewability in sunlight.

Why are the HV700 screens having issues?

It is normal for electronics to fail when used for beyond the normal life span. We are able to reuse the existing good components and only replace the failed components, thus keeping the price low.
