Fix Your Mastercraft's Frozen HV700 Touch Screen and Save $2,800+ vs a New Display
A 2013 Mastercraft came into our Fort Myers shop with a familiar complaint: the HV700 touch screen froze up and the buttons stopped responding. You tap, nothing happens. On these units we also commonly see the opposite problem, ghost touch or phantom touch, where the screen starts pressing buttons nobody touched. Both trace back to the same failing component, and both are fixable for $2,800+ less than a new display.

What Is the Mastercraft HV700 Display?
The 7 inch helm screen on 2013 to 2017 Mastercrafts
From 2013 to 2017, Mastercraft X-Series and Prostar boats used a 7 inch helm display built by Murphy (Enovation Controls) called the HV700, offered in touch and non touch versions. The majority of our HV700 repair orders come from Mastercraft owners, but the same family of displays was used from 2012 on by Tige, Centurion, Nautique, Regal, Supra, Premier, South Bay, Harris, Four Winns, Bayliner, and Sylvan. Check the label on the back of your unit: if it says HV700, HV700HB, HV700T, or HV700BP, this guide applies to you.
4 Common Failures We Frequently See
If any of these look familiar, your HV700 is on its way out

Frozen or Unresponsive Touch
You press a button and nothing happens, no matter how many times you tap. Part of the screen may still work while other zones go completely dead.

Ghost Touch and Phantom Inputs
The screen presses buttons on its own, switching pages, toggling functions, and acting like it has a mind of its own. We commonly see this right alongside frozen touch.

Dark, Dim, or Faint Display
The backlight fades until the screen is hard to read in daylight, sometimes with stripes, black spots, or a UV burned LCD.

Stuck on the Booting Page
The unit powers on but never gets past the boot screen, leaving you with no gauges or controls at the helm.
Why the HV700 Touch Fails
An internal chip with a 5 to 7 year clock
These original units were designed with an internal touch controller chip that has been known to fail after 5 to 7 years of service. It is normal for electronics to wear out when used beyond their designed life span, and the marine environment does these displays no favors: heat cycles bake the helm all day and vibration works on the internals every time the boat runs.
As the controller degrades, the touch layer starts misreading or missing inputs. That is why frozen buttons and ghost touch so often show up on the same boat. On a 2013 Mastercraft, the math is simple: the display is now well past that 5 to 7 year window, so this failure is a matter of when rather than if.
How the Mail-In Repair Works
Four steps, no dealer visit, no programming
- Place your HV700 mail-in repair order and a pre-paid shipping label arrives by email (USA only). International customers receive mailing instructions.
- Remove the display from your boat and ship it in. Removal is simple plug and play, and each boat is a little different, so check our installation page for details on yours.
- We carefully open the unit, replace the LCD and digitizer with brand new parts, upgrade the touch controller, reseal the unit to retain its original watertight properties, and test everything before it ships back in 3 days or less.
- Plug it back in. No programming, no dealer visit, and all of your original settings and profiles are preserved.
What Owners Get Back
Same unit, brand new screen, upgraded controller
The same unit that left your boat comes back with a brand new LCD and digitizer behind your original housing and motherboard, with the touch controller upgraded so the frozen and ghost touch issues stay gone. Trusted by hundreds of verified customers with a 5 star rating.
The updated 800 nit LED backlight means the screen typically comes back brighter than the day the boat left the showroom, with an anti-glare, anti-fingerprint finish that stays readable in full sun and with polarized glasses on.
