What Is the Medallion Info Center?
The small 3 inch LCD at the helm of many Malibu, Tige, and Supra boats.
The Medallion Info Center 3 inch is the dash display that shows engine diagnostics, ballast levels, speed, and other vital boat information. It was used on many Malibu, Tige, and Supra boats. After 15 to 20 years in the sun, most units show one or more of several common failures.

4 Common Info Center Failures
These are the issues we see most often on these displays.
Faded LCD
The face and LCD lose brightness and contrast over time, and text becomes harder to read.
Burned Capacitors
The capacitors burn up, which causes a faint or dim image, or the display shuts off.
Peeling Overlay
The printed overlay with the labels becomes faded, peeling, and cracked.
Darkened LCD
The LCD darkens from years of sun exposure, making the screen hard to read in daylight.

Why Info Center Screens Fail
It comes down to years of sun and heat at the helm.
These displays were not designed for the intense UV exposure and heat cycling of a boat dash. After 15 to 20 years the LCD and overlay plastic degrade in sunlight, which causes the fading, peeling, and darkening. Repeated heating and cooling cause the capacitors to burn up, which is what produces the faint or dim image.
The good news: all of these failures are reversible with new components.
How to Remove a Malibu Medallion Info Center
It takes just a few screws and a couple of minutes.
- 1Turn off the engine and disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid accidental shorts.
- 2Remove the two screws in the Malibu logo on the face of the unit.
- 3Remove the single screw on the top in the middle.
- 4That whole piece will then slide out of the dash. Disconnect the connectors on the back and set the unit aside.
- 5There are some screws on the back side that hold the chrome piece in. Remove those to separate the bezel.
The Result
Back on the water, looking better than new.
"Screen looks like it did 18 years ago. Had it out on the water recently and had zero issues. 10/10 would recommend anyone experiencing issues with their screen to get this repair done." — Joseph M Zelek, 2016 Malibu 242x
