What Is the MasterCraft Black Label Display?
The Black Label is the 10.6 inch touch screen display at the helm of 2018 to 2024 MasterCraft boats. It runs the MasterCraft Smart Command system and controls ballast, surf settings, speed control, gauges, and audio. Under the MasterCraft branding, the unit is an Enovation PV1100 (Powerview 1100), a display platform used across several boat brands starting in 2017.
When the touch panel starts failing, sections of the screen stop responding and you lose access to the controls behind them. 4 Common Black Label Failures
Frozen Touch Areas
Certain sections of the screen freeze and stop taking input. We frequently see the bottom edge, the right side, or a band across the middle stop responding while the rest of the screen still works.
Dead Zones and Unresponsive Sections
Buttons in specific spots require repeated hard presses or never register at all. The dead zone often grows over time until key controls are locked out.
Touch Screen Not Working at All
The display powers on and looks normal, but no touch input registers anywhere on the glass. The boat runs, yet you cannot reach ballast, surf, or system settings.
LCD Glitching
Vertical lines, stripes, incorrect colors, or a partially dark image. These LCD defects are also fixed during the same repair, since we install a brand new LCD panel.
Why It Happens
The Black Label lives in one of the hardest environments any electronics can face. Direct sunlight, UV exposure, heat cycles, vibration, and moisture all work on the display season after season. After years of this, the touch layer inside the screen has been known to degrade, which is why owners see frozen areas and dead zones appear and then spread.
Because the failure is inside the screen assembly itself, recalibrating, updating software, or resetting the system will not bring the dead areas back. How to Remove the Black Label Display
- Turn off the battery switch so the helm has no power before you start.
- Access the back of the dash panel. On most MasterCraft models this is done through the panel below or behind the helm.
- Remove the mounting hardware holding the display to the dash.
- Unplug the harness connectors from the back of the unit. Take a photo first so reinstallation is simple.
- Pack the display in a well padded box and ship it to us using the instructions emailed after you place your order.
