DIY Repair Kit
For advanced technicians and installers, we will send you the replacement LCD touch screen repair kit to install yourself. Very similar to replacing a cell phone screen.

After installing our new screen, some customers will say certain areas are not responding to to touch.
This phenomenon is caused by two things:
1. Acclimation: These Malibu systems design are nearly 15 years old and are limited by the original touch grid layout.
This requires you to use a bit more contact point than just your finger tip, as you would use on your cell phone which has a finer touch grid.
2. Break In: Next, the screen can take 1-2 hours of use or exposure to sun to "break in." During this period, it may be slightly less responsive than it will as the materials are softened. Very similar to when you get new brake pads on your car.
Rest assured, after a slight break in period and applying the correct contact area for each button, your device will be operating perfectly!

I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience with MTC Screens.
The touchscreen on my 2012 Tige boat had developed severe delamination and had become difficult to use. After researching repair options, I contacted MTC Screens and was impressed from the very first conversation. They answered my questions promptly, explained the repair process clearly, and provided excellent customer service throughout.
What really stood out was the turnaround time. From the day I shipped my screen to the day I received it back was only 5½ days, including the repair itself. That’s remarkable service by any standard.

Did the DIY option. Was a little apprehensive about breaking something, but turned out to be extremely easy. Way easier than I anticipated.

Looks factory and works even better. My model didn’t have exact instructions but was able to replace the screen myself. If u are not quite good w electronics etc, have Mtc do it for you. Took a few attempts to figure out the orientation of the ribbon cables. The glue we melted to get the old screen off was a tremendous gooey mesh, by the way. The final product looks and works far better than original at a fraction of the outrageous Malibu dealer cost.

My old screen had the typical glue debonding situation around the perimeter to the point that the start/stop engine button didn't always work. Replacement was fairly easy, and after resetting to factory conditions, the refurbished screen worked great.

EDIT: increased review to 4 stars for forgetting the dimmer controls only work in night mode. It is a really good replacement screen. I also don't KNOW that my unit is any dimmer or brighter than the original since my stock backlight went out. But it feels dimmer in practice and is certainly noticably dimmer than the top screen (seen in uploaded picture post repair). Overall very happy with the successful replacement though.

The screen works well as a replacement and is simple enough to DIY.
It doesn't appear any brighter than the original though (as advertised). In fact, if anything it seems a bit dimmer and colors are more muted. Also, the software dimmer control doesn't seem to affect the brightness at all anymore. Touch screen also doesn't seem any better than OEM as I was hoping for lighter touches working better.
Overall, it was better than replacing the entire unit, but slightly disappointing in performance. But, perhaps my unit is different or I missed something in the DIY.

Independent lab testing shows 30% increase in measured brightness across the surface compared to the original control unit. Your ambient lighting conditions will greatly alter your perception of the brightness compared to your original
Regarding the touch response- it is calibrated carefully to be not so sensitive to have accidental button presses with your knee bumping on it as that could be a safety concern. There is a balance to also have it be not too difficult to press. Its pretty close to the original in those terms. Our last gen 1 unit had feedback it was too difficult so we made the improvements to your gen 2 display for more sensitivity.
The dimmer controls are adjustable in settings and to activate dim mode, you need to press the night button. Otherwise its at full brightness all the time. Dimmer controls do not affect the brightness unless you are in night mode, this is normal.

I have a 2014 Malibu Wakesetter VLX where the touch screen has been delaminating for 3-4 years. It was usable until the end of last season. I'm glad I delayed the fix because I saved a ton of $$ with the MTCScreen product. I purchased the DIY version of the MTC-6A Verr2.`1. The installation took be about 45 minutes, and then I tested it in the boat as recommended. The new screen works flawlessly. Great engineering job! Thanks Charles!

Everything was good the only issue I had was when I opened it after getting it back there was quit a bit of glue around the edges that didn’t get cleaned off . It took a little time cleaning it off as it just seemed to keep oozing out
