Having issues with your 6.5" Medallion Smart Touch in your Malibu or Tige Boat?

We have good news! mtc screens can now repair or refurbish your existing 3962052 or Z-C2003 display without the high expense or hassle of replacing the entire unit at the dealer. These display units typically fail after 5-10 years of use, with the typical signs of failure being delamination bubble, frozen or unresponsive, or randomly jumping around. This is also called phantom touch or ghost touch. Sometimes the backlight burns out leaving the display dark or dim.

Brand new display units from the dealer can range from $4,000-$6,000, but there is no need to replace the entire display unit. We can save your unit and fix all the previously mentioned common issues by replacing the only defective part, the touch screen LCD assembly, at a fraction of the cost.

Simply choose your preferred installation type:

Mail in service- Higher cost, more down time, safest option as we guarantee to not damage your display unit. You receive a pre-paid UPS label to your email and send it in to us. 3-5 days later we fix it and send it back to you for reinstallation. Simple.

DIY Option- Lower cost, less downtime, similar to replacing a cell phone screen. Do not choose this option if you are the type of person to rush through jobs, no patience, or have no experience of the delicate nature of working with small electronics. You will receive the LCD touch panel and have to install it yourself.

Check your Email

After ordering, within 1 business day you will receive a PDF UPS label to print out. Ensure your email is accurate at checkout.

Send your unit in

Remove the display from your boat and send it in to us. We will repair and test it within 3-5 business days.

Receive it back 

Watch your email for the return tracking when it is on the way. Reinstall to boat, no programming needed!

Install Screen 

Carefully follow the videos listed on the installation tab to install the new screen assembly. Do not rush!

 Reinstall unit to boat

Place your unit back in your boat and the job is complete. No further programming.

Our customer with a 2011 Tige Boat had a blacked out, delaminated display. Dealer quoted him $6k USD to fix. We saved him over $4k while upgrading the display!

Reuse your chips

Your expensive internal motherboard and chips are re-used as there is nothing wrong with them.

This allows for a much lower cost to repair and less waste.

Good screen

EDIT: increased review to 4 stars for forgetting the dimmer controls only work in night mode. It is a really good replacement screen. I also don't KNOW that my unit is any dimmer or brighter than the original since my stock backlight went out. But it feels dimmer in practice and is certainly noticably dimmer than the top screen (seen in uploaded picture post repair). Overall very happy with the successful replacement though.

ORIGINAL:
The screen works well as a replacement and is simple enough to DIY.
It doesn't appear any brighter than the original though (as advertised). In fact, if anything it seems a bit dimmer and colors are more muted. Also, the software dimmer control doesn't seem to affect the brightness at all anymore. Touch screen also doesn't seem any better than OEM as I was hoping for lighter touches working better.
Overall, it was better than replacing the entire unit, but slightly disappointing in performance. But, perhaps my unit is different or I missed something in the DIY.

Independent lab testing shows 30% increase in measured brightness across the surface compared to the original control unit. Your ambient lighting conditions will greatly alter your perception of the brightness compared to your original

Regarding the touch response- it is calibrated carefully to be not so sensitive to have accidental button presses with your knee bumping on it as that could be a safety concern. There is a balance to also have it be not too difficult to press. Its pretty close to the original in those terms. Our last gen 1 unit had feedback it was too difficult so we made the improvements to your gen 2 display for more sensitivity.

The dimmer controls are adjustable in settings and to activate dim mode, you need to press the night button. Otherwise its at full brightness all the time. Dimmer controls do not affect the brightness unless you are in night mode, this is normal.

2014 tige rz2 back light and updated screen

Very pleased with the repair. Back light went out so screen went black. removed from boat sent it in and within 2 weeks I had it back and installed. Works perfect.

2011 Malibu Waksetter 24LSV. Screen died on Friday, screen ordered on Saturday, and was back in the water by Wednesday. It's better and brighter than before. Awesome stuff!
